Accounting & Tax Compliance Associate
On behalf of our client, a well-established professional services company, we are looking for an Accounting & Tax Compliance Associate to join their team and support the accounting and tax compliance activities for local and international clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Process, review and record primary accounting documents
- Support day-to-day accounting for client entities
- Prepare and maintain accounting registers, working papers and supporting schedules
- Perform account reconciliations and analyse data across accounting systems, ERP platforms and bank statements
- Analyse account balances and movements, identify variances and discrepancies
- Participate in monthly and year-end closing processes
- Support the preparation of VAT returns and annual corporate income tax returns
- Prepare accounting, financial and analytical reports
- Communicate with clients on day-to-day accounting and compliance matters
- Work with SAP and/or other ERP and accounting systems
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA, or other)
Experience level: ideally, but not required, at least 2 to 3 years of relevant hands-on accounting, bookkeeping, or tax experience within a professional services or accounting firm
Technical skills: sound knowledge of basic accounting principles as well as basic knowledge of Bulgarian VAT and corporate income tax
Software Competency: strong Excel skills and confidence working with analytical data
Core competencies: high attention to detail, strong numerical accuracy, good time management skills to handle multiple client deadlines, clear communication skills in Bulgarian and English (at least B2 level or above) and willingness to learn and take on more complex tasks
Considered an Advantage
- Experience with SAP or another ERP system
- Exposure to monthly/year-end closing, VAT compliance or preparation of financial statements
- Experience with account reconciliations and analysis of larger data sets
- Experience working with international clients
