Battery Test Engineer

Responsibilities
· Become part of the Battery test department and work under the guidance of the team manager,
· Battery Testing & Analysis of results
- Work with battery test stands (write/edit test programs, manage tests and control data acquisition) and a wide range of measurement equipment such as battery testers, oscilloscopes, and internal resistance and impedance meters.
- Program and execute test cycles tailored to each application
- Acquire and analyze data to assess battery performance, safety, and reliability.
- Draft test reports, build-up a battery test database and present the results at R&D team meetings.
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and validate setups.
· Participate in test specification & planning
Define test specifications and protocols together with the R&D team, ensuring technical rigor and safety standards. Generate clear and detailed test reports.
· Facility Adaptation & Setup Design.
Adapt existing test infrastructure to new requirements and design test setups for both standard and custom battery experiments.
· Process & Tool Improvement.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and tool development to enhance lab workflows for simultaneous automated testing of several cells, batteries and battery strings, safety, and test accuracy.
· Manual Handling of Battery Systems.
Handle and install battery modules and packs as part of the test process. Lifting up to 25 kg may be required.
Qualifications
· Technical Background
- Solid knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, including communication protocols.
- At least 3 years of practical experience with energy storage or maintenance systems.
- Practical experience with lab equipment and electrical measurements.
- Capable of interpreting technical data and troubleshooting system behavior according to manuals and internal rules.
· Practical Skills & Mindset
- Analytical thinker with a hands-on, solution-oriented attitude.
- Enjoying hands-on lab work and eager to experiment with new tools and technologies.
- Strong collaboration skills. Willingness to keep team rules strictly, high level of discipline and responsibility for best team results and efficiency.
· Valuable Assets
- Knowledge of energy storage systems and battery technologies.
- Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, and experience with SolidWorks are strong advantages.
- Advanced Excel skills for data processing and visualization.
· Working in a team
- Willingness to work alongside a team of senior researchers and learn from them.
- Flexibility for collegial support and help in case of urgent or term-critical tasks.
· Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, Robotics, Automation, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
· Languages
- Bulgarian is a strong benefit.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Other Languages might help but are not obligatory
