Postdoctoral researcher, Department Plant Metabolomics

CPSBB is a leading plant science research organization located in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The Center is looking for a highly motivated, experienced scientist who can join the research of Department Plant Metabolomics. This research focuses on unravelling the metabolic profiles and primary/secondary metabolite pathways (and their regulatory control) in model and crop species by employing cutting-edge mass spectrometry methods. In addition to its own research, the department will offer GC-MS, LC-MS and ICP-MS services. Candidates should have a strong publication record, hands-on experience with GC-MS and LC-MS systems, and solid knowledge of mass spectrometry, chromatographic methods, and related data analysis.

Funding of the position is carried out with the financial support of the Executive Agency „Programme Education”, „Research, Innovation and Digitalization for Smart Transformation” Operational Programme, Project: Sustainable development of the Center for Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB), Agreement № BG16RFPR002-1.014-0003-C01.

Job Requirements

• PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemometrics, metabolomics or related discipline

• Hands-on experience in the application of GC/LC methods and analyzing mass spectrometry datasets.

• Knowledge of instrumentation related to gas/liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.

·  Publications in medium or high IF journals.

·  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·  Experience with preparation of manuscripts on experimental and theoretical data analysis and methods.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to discuss, plan, and present results to a multi-disciplinary laboratory group and interact with personnel from different scientific organizations, companies and academic institutions.

• Strong leadership skills to guide research of PhD students.

Main responsibilities

·  Running and maintaining the analytical equipment, such as GC-MS and LC-MS systems

• Conducting cutting-edge plant science research

• Supervising PhD students

• Writing grant proposals and assisting grant management
